General
Chile's south is dotted with many volcanoes that are perfect for ski touring. Decent access, long descents and often perfect corn snow make them an ideal spring destination. Some have ski hills on them and some don't, making access easier or more difficult. The scenery, however, is always spectacular.Volcan Villarica, just outside Pucon, is the most famous and has some great touring on it. Other volcanoes include Lonquimay, Llaima, Antuco and Osorno, all with good possibilites. There are many more however, and we have only scratched the surface. Check out the great site skimountaineer.com for more information on all the ski touring options on the volcanoes of Chile.

Snow
In general, the snow all season long is wet, heavy and abundant. Massive storms lasting days mean that volcanoes like Pucon build huge bases. Spring sees often very good corn snow and is the best time to go.

Weather
Can be poor at times during winter. Consecutive days of socked in weather can stop all touring as there is no tree skiing. Winter is generally not a great time. Spring weather can be variable but there are many more sunny days than winter. Can often be windy but temperatures are usually mild.

Terrain
Great volcanic terrain of bowls and natural half pipes. Long runs of 1000m+ can be had, such as at Pucon where you can get 1600m. Plenty of cornices and wind lips and often feels like you are in a natural terrain park. Can be especially appealing to snowboarders. Generally straight forward ascent lines make touring easy.

Getting there
To get to Andorra fly to Barcelona or Pepignon and drive or take the bus or train. A hire car is handy but not necessary; Andorra is so small that once you arrive your skins will take you everywhere.
