The ski resort of Termas de Chillan possibly has the best combination of reliable snow and quality terrain of anywhere in Chile. Situated on a volcano in the upper part of southern Chile, it offers the ski tourer some fantastic options and there is plenty to explore. |

| Heavier than the Andes proper, it is variable, often in winter being very good powder and deteriorating to heavy powder in spring. Temperature fluctuations even during winter can ruin good snow however. The snow fall here is much more regular and consistent than in mountains to the north, and you will usually find a deep base from early to mid winter onwards. |

Can be poor at times during winter. Consecutive days of socked in weather can stop all touring as there is minimal tree skiing here. Also plenty of fine weather - it is a mix of the great weather to the north and the atrocious weather to the south. Temperatures, even in winter, are fairly mild, although wind chill can be a problem as strong winds are common. |

Great volcanic terrain of bowls and natural half pipes. Long runs of 1000m+ can be had, with the last bit done through trees. Some of the best free riding lines in Chile. |
