There are many Kashmiris offering themselves as guides in Gulmarg but none of these are qualified and basically you get what you pay for. Due to their lack of knowledge regarding avalanche safety they are not recommended for anything but arranging taxi pick ups at the end of runs to the valley floor and in pointing you in the right direction for certain tours. There is one Canadian guide, Ptor, offering tours to Gulmarg, and each year a guide or 2 spend part of the winter in Gulmarg and you may be able to get his services once there.
