Public Transport
Access by public transport is easy. Simply catch a train to Kami Furano and take either the morning or evening bus up the mountain from the station. It stops at all hotels along the way, costs little and is always mostly empty so your gear is no problem. It leaves from outside the train station – check with the Kami Furano or Furano tourist board or visitfurano.com for bus times.
Taxi/shuttle
A taxi will take you up there from Kami Furano, Furano, or Asahikawa. With a few people this may be worth it. Check out Alpine tours in Furano, or the local taxi company’s in Kami Furano or Asahikawa
Hire car
If you are only going up for a day or two, than a hire car may be worthwhile, although it is no better for access as the hotels are already in the prime locations. In Furano check out Northcountry Inn, Toyota at the train station and in Asahikawa there are many companies in town and at the airport.
