There are good maps available for the Atlas. Buy the topographic map of the Toubkal region (1:250,000 scale) from Carte du Maroc series NH-29-3 Marrakech (sample below).
Surprisingly, there is also a decent selection of guide books for the Atlas. The ever reliable Editions Olizane have Montagnes du Maroc (Trekking et Ski de Randonée) by Hervé Galley (olizane.ch). Also available are Le Haut Atlas by André Fougerolles, published by Ed. Glénat and Ski dans le Haut Atlas de Marrakech by Claude Cominelli published by Claude Cominelli. Of course, all of these are available only in French. The fantastic site skimountaineer.com has simple descriptions of some of the ascents available around Toubkal. |
